How it works

Build, review, approve.

  1. Build a form

    Pick the fields you need, from name, company and tax ID to file uploads and your own questions. Add it to any page with the Form Gatekeeper theme block.

  2. Review submissions

    Every application lands in the app inside Shopify admin, with its answers and files. Approve or deny with one click, or let a form approve automatically.

  3. Tag the customer

    On approval, the app creates or finds the Shopify customer, and adds the tags you chose. On Pro and Scale it can also send them an account invite.

  • Forms that match your theme

    Forms render inside your theme with its fonts and colors. No theme code edits, and uninstalling leaves your theme as it was.

  • Tag rules per form

    Choose tags to add or remove on submit, on approval and on denial, for example wholesale-pending then wholesale.

  • File uploads

    Collect resale certificates, licenses or photos with the application, with limits on file type and size.

  • Emails that keep everyone posted

    You get an alert for each new submission. Applicants hear when you've received, approved or denied them. Turn each email on or off.

  • Account links

    Add buttons to Shopify's customer accounts, like "Apply for wholesale" or "Buy a membership", shown to everyone or only to customers with (or without) a tag.

  • Data you control

    Set how long each form keeps submissions, and delete a customer's applications and files whenever they ask.

Form Gatekeeper decides who gets a tag. What a tag unlocks is up to you: Shopify's own customer segments and discounts, or an app that gates content by tag, such as Pewter: Tag Lock.

Questions

Do I need to edit my theme?

No. Add the Form Gatekeeper block to a page in the theme editor and pick your form. It works with any Online Store 2.0 theme.

What does the account approval workflow do?

On Pro and Scale, a form can wait to create the Shopify customer until you approve the application, then send their account invite. Nobody gets an account you haven't approved.

Does Form Gatekeeper hide prices or products?

No. It collects applications and tags approved customers. Use those tags with Shopify's own features or with an app built for gating, such as Pewter: Tag Lock.

What happens to applicant data?

Applications are stored so you can review them, for as long as each form's retention setting says. They're deleted when you or Shopify ask, and when you uninstall. The privacy policy has the details.

What if I go over my monthly submissions?

Your forms stop accepting new submissions until the next month or until you upgrade. Submissions you already have aren't affected.
